Charlotte, NC. Lt. Governor Bev Perdue visited Sencera International Corporation’s headquarter office and development facility in Charlotte on September 15, 2008. The purpose of the visit was to consult with Sencera’s Management team regarding North Carolina’s emerging solar industry and the related job growth in North Carolina. The visit follows Lt. Governor Perdue’s July, 2008 announcement of a $100,000 grant from the North Carolina Green Business Fund to Sencera for its work on unique thin film solar cell manufacturing technologies. "The Green Business Fund is jump starting NC's green economy" said Lt. Governor Bev Perdue. "Innovators like Sencera are most deserving of grant monies so they can continue to grow and develop as the businesses of our future. I congratulate Sencera on their leadership in this important field."
Lt. Governor Perdue was instrumental in proposing the North Carolina Green Act in 2007. This Act included the NC Green Business Fund, which required a comprehensive strategy on a green investment portfolio for the State Pension Fund and to make North Carolina state government a model for energy efficiency.
